I’m a musicologist. I think, research, teach, and write about music - and I enjoy it! I love sharing my thoughts about music, and listening to others talking about their understanding of the music they listen to. I’m also a performer, and play the Persian setar, as well as the Kurdish tanbur.
Teaching is an integral part of my life. I have taught courses in Western Music History, Music Appreciation, and World Music at several Canadian and Iranian universities, while expanding my experience through conducting workshops in Persian music and music theory, as well as tutoring music lessons. Through these channels I have been lucky to give instruction by means of courses, workshops, and music tutorials to students with diverse backgrounds.
I enjoy spending time with my family; going swimming, playing basketball and soccer, and watching movies with my son. I also love hiking, and making and drinking coffee with friends.
